Discover the UAE's national museum, from ancient archaeology to the country's modern identity.

Overview

This is a general entry ticket for Zayed National Museum in Abu Dhabi's Saadiyat Cultural District. The museum tells the story of the land and people of the United Arab Emirates, from early archaeological finds to the life of Sheikh Zayed and the formation of the modern country. Its six permanent galleries give you a clearer sense of the UAE's history than a brief stop at a landmark would.

Admission is for the museum, not a guided Abu Dhabi sightseeing tour or a multi-museum pass. Louvre Abu Dhabi and the Natural History Museum are separate attractions with their own admission arrangements.

The museum also offers a changing programme of family activities, workshops and places to eat. These should not be treated as included extras: the supplier confirms an entry ticket only, not a paid workshop, guided session or meal. Check the programme and any separate charges if you are visiting for a specific event.

About the attraction
Opened in December 2025, Zayed National Museum is the national museum of the United Arab Emirates and honours its founding president, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The galleries connect archaeology, landscapes, trade and everyday traditions with the events that shaped the federation.

Designed by Foster + Partners, the building is easy to recognise by its five soaring steel structures inspired by falcon wings. They do more than create a striking skyline: vents near their tops help draw warm air from the museum's atrium, while lower-level systems introduce cooler air. The galleries sit within an earth-like mound that helps shield the interiors from the sun.

The outdoor Al Masar Garden extends the story into the landscape with desert, oasis and urban planting, a working falaj irrigation feature and a timeline of the country's history.
Who is it for
A strong choice for travellers interested in UAE history, archaeology and architecture, as well as families looking for a museum with varied displays rather than a single subject. It works particularly well if you want to understand the country before or after visiting its modern landmarks.

Choose Louvre Abu Dhabi if your priority is art across world cultures, or the Natural History Museum for natural science and fossils. A museum admission ticket is not the right product if you require a private guide, hotel transport or prebooked family workshops.
What to expect
1. Arrive in Saadiyat Cultural District. If time and weather permit, begin with Al Masar Garden, the outdoor gallery and landscaped route leading toward the museum. It offers a useful introduction to the desert, oasis and urban environments that shaped life in the UAE.

2. Enter Al Liwan, the light-filled central atrium beneath the wing-like towers. Notice how the building channels daylight into the interior and how the galleries are arranged around this central space.

3. Explore the permanent galleries at your own pace. Our Beginning introduces Sheikh Zayed through archival material and personal history. Other galleries move through the country's landscapes, ancient settlements, connections through trade and faith, coastal life and Emirati cultural traditions.

4. Look for the museum's archaeological objects and reconstructed historical settings. Highlights described by the museum include the Abu Dhabi Pearl and a reconstruction of a Magan boat, although individual displays may change or be temporarily unavailable.

5. Before leaving, check whether a temporary exhibition or a public performance is scheduled. Admission to a separately priced workshop or special event should not be assumed from this entry ticket.
Before you go
Getting there: Zayed National Museum is on Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi, within Saadiyat Cultural District. The official Abu Dhabi tourism guide lists free on-site parking. A taxi can take you to the museum entrance; transport from a hotel or from Dubai is not included in this ticket.

Opening times: the museum currently advertises daily opening, but published hours and last-entry cutoffs differ between its own visitor information and third-party ticket listings. Check both the official museum timetable and the date or entry time on your booking confirmation. Do not rely on a general schedule when arranging another timed activity.

Plan enough time to explore several galleries rather than rushing through one exhibit. Al Masar Garden is outdoors, so factor in heat and sun if you intend to walk the full landscaped route. The museum is also close to other Saadiyat attractions, but those museums require separate admission.

Entry and accessibility: show your smartphone ticket at the museum entrance. This product is marked wheelchair-accessible, and the official tourism guide describes step-free routes and adapted visitor services. Contact the venue before booking if you need a specific form of assistance.

Booking conditions: this ticket is non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled. Confirm your chosen date, admission category and contracting seller at checkout, then keep the booking confirmation for entry.
