Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi Entry Tickets

Opened to the public on 22 November 2025, Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi tells a 13.8-billion-year story, from the Big Bang to changing life on Earth. Its collection includes the well-known Tyrannosaurus rex fossil nicknamed Stan and monumental dinosaur displays. The Lost World of Abu Dhabi gallery is especially distinctive: it reconstructs a period around seven million years ago when this part of Arabia supported a much wetter landscape and very different animals.

The building is part of the experience. Designed by architecture studio Mecanoo, its stepped forms draw on regional geological landscapes, while pentagonal patterns refer to structures found in nature. The architect also designed publicly accessible routes through the site's terraces and waterfront landscape. The architecture therefore introduces the idea of natural history before you reach the fossils inside.

A particularly good choice for families with children interested in dinosaurs, fossils and interactive science, or for adults who prefer natural history to conventional art galleries. The regional fossil story adds something you are less likely to find in a general museum of world history.

Choose Zayed National Museum if your priority is the UAE's human history and state formation, or Louvre Abu Dhabi for art across cultures. If you specifically want a hosted laboratory tour, a private museum guide or a ticket to a separately scheduled activity, check for an experience that explicitly includes it.

1. Arrive at the museum in Saadiyat Cultural District and present your smartphone ticket at the designated admission point. Take in the sculpted outdoor architecture before entering, if the weather and your schedule allow.

2. Begin with the origins of the universe in The Story of Earth. Displays introduce the Big Bang, the formation of the solar system and the conditions that made life possible.

3. Continue through Evolving World to explore prehistoric life and major changes in evolution. Dinosaur skeletons are a highlight; allow time to observe the scale and structure of the specimens rather than rushing past them.

4. Visit The Lost World of Abu Dhabi, which uses fossils found in the region to show how its landscapes and wildlife differed millions of years ago. Then explore Human Story, Our World and Resilient Planet for human evolution, present-day biodiversity and the environmental challenges ahead.

5. If you are visiting with children, look for the family activity areas and any public educational events. Their availability may vary, and a special workshop or Immersive Theatre presentation is not automatically covered by this admission ticket.

Location and travel: the museum is on Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi's Cultural District, near Louvre Abu Dhabi and Zayed National Museum. Free parking is advertised on site. You can also travel by taxi; admission to nearby museums is not part of this ticket.

Opening hours: the museum publishes different weekday and weekend closing times, while the ticket marketplace displays a single daily schedule. Check the official timetable and your booked admission time rather than planning around one generic closing hour. The museum currently specifies last entry 45 minutes before closing.

Facilities: bags larger than 58 × 43 cm must be left in lockers. Single strollers can enter the galleries, but double strollers must be deposited in the cloakroom. Free Wi-Fi, prayer areas, visitor seating and baby-changing facilities are listed.
